The seventy-third anniversary of the Shepard Sunday-school was held last Sunday afternoon, in the church, which was handsomely decked with flowers for the occasion. At the entrance to each pew occupied by one of the classes. hung a dainty floral basket in which was placed the contribution for the day. These baskets were gathered up by members of the infant class during the exercises and used to complete a massive floral piece in the chancel. The exercises were in charge of the superintendent, Mr. Francis B. Oilman. After singing, scripture reading, and prayer, the report of the secretary and treasurer, Mr. George VV. Cushman, who was detained by illness, was read by Mr. John B. Kempton, the assistant superintendent. The total membership of the school is 472, including 5 officers, 41 teachers. 100 in the infant department, 216 in the main school, 25 in the young men’s class, and S5 in the Bible class.
